Kamal Haasan Shares Heartwrenching Note After Ilaiyaraaja's Daughter's Death
Tamil star Kamal Haasan was deeply saddened and devastated to hear the news.

The entire South film industry was saddened after hearing the news of Ilaiyaraaja’s daughter, Bhavatharini’s death. She passed away on January 25 after battling cancer. As per reports, she died at a hospital in Sri Lanka while undergoing treatment. People from the film industry paid their condolences to the late singer and her family. Tamil star Kamal Haasan was deeply saddened and devastated to hear the news. It was reported that he was unable to attend the funeral as he was preoccupied with his work commitments. Kamal Haasan has penned a note on his social media as well.

Playback singer and composer Bhavatharini was reportedly suffering from Stage 4 liver cancer for the past few months. As per reports, the singer had gone to Sri Lanka for her Ayurveda treatment. After hearing the news, Kamal Haasan paid condolences to her and her family. On January 26, Kamal Haasan took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his condolence message. He tweeted in Tamil, which can be loosely translated as, “My heart aches. I don’t know how to console my beloved brother, Ilaiyaraaja. I will hold his hand through this. Bhavatharini’s death cannot be tolerated or accepted. Ilaiyaraaja shouldn’t give up dealing with this huge loss. My heartfelt condolences to Bhavatharini’s family.”

Bhavatharini was awarded the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer in 2000 for her rendition of the song “Mayil Pola Ponnu Onnu” from the film Bharathi, which was composed by her father. She was 47 years old when she passed away and is survived by her husband, father Ilaiyaraaja, and brothers, Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Speaking of Kamal Haasan, recently, the actor started shooting for his highly anticipated film with Mani Ratnam. The film is titled Thug Life and also features Dulquer Salmaan, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Gautham Karthik, and Joju George in key roles. Apart from that, Kamal Haasan will also be seen in his popular film, Indian 2, which is directed by Shankar.
