Watch: Shreyas Iyer Punishes Ben Stokes for Casual Running With a Direct Hit
Shreyas Iyer gave India the big wicket of Ben Stokes with a brilliant run-out as the English skipper was sent packing leaving England under pressure in the second Test.

India managed to get the big wicket of Ben Stokes thanks to a brilliant fielding effort from Shreyas Iyer who managed to get the direct hit as the English skipper was dismissed for just 11 runs off 29 deliveries leaving England under pressure in the second innings at Visakhapatnam.

Iyer who was standing at mid-wicket charged in to take the ball and threw it to the keeper’s end where he got the direct hit and gave India the big wicket they had been eyeing in their pursuit to win the Test match and level the series.

The importance of the wicket is understated as Ben Stokes can single-handedly take the game away against the best of oppositions as he has proven in the iconic Headingly Test during the Ashes.

Another point to note is that Ben Stokes had taken a stunning catch to run towards long-off to dismiss Shreyas Iyer in the previous innings which left the Indian batter stunned. However, he was able to get his revenge with a brilliant fielding display later on.

England despite the loss of wickets in the morning session, were still in the hunt to extend their lead in the series, with the pair of Ben Stokes and Ben Foakes still at the crease. But the casual running between the wickets which led to the dismissal of the English skipper has given more hope to the hosts.

The English side will now have to depend on the likes of Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley to carry them home as playing for a draw is not in the plans of the touring side. Under the head coach, Brendon McCullum, England has had a newfound resurgence in the Test format where their ultra-attacking mindset has enabled them to be a tough opposition against the best Test sides.

Wicket-keeper batter, Ben Foakes is yet to rack up a big score in the series and is mostly known for his elite keeping skills from behind the stumps. But he has had two centuries and four fifties in his name during the 21 Tests he has played so far.

Tom Hartley who is on the other end has the ability with the bat despite not scoring big in his Test career so far. He has been known to take an aggressive approach in many instances which was seen since he made his debut in the first Test.
