AI Job Threat Has People Worried But Microsoft’s Satya Nadella Has This Good News To Share
Microsoft is closely working in the development of AI tools for businesses, so Nadella has a good idea about how the technology will work out.

AI applications are growing at a face pace causing jitters among working professionals who fear for their jobs. In fact, the tech space has been flooded with layoff reports in the past few months, with many more expected throughout 2024. But Microsoft isn’t sure if AI is just about spreading the bad news. The company’s CEO Satya Nadella believes AI will not only take jobs but it will also create a new range of jobs that can empower humans.

Nadella was quoted saying this in an interview recently. Nadella pointed out that the job market can adapt to the changing needs of the industry and in this case, AI as a technology stream brings a whole new set of skills and expertise into play.

It is interesting to hear Nadella talk about adaptation which seems like one way of saying people will be forced to reskill or look for other avenues. Tech giants like Google, Microsoft and Amazon among others are going through a churning spree, and when you hear someone like Sundar Pichai raise a word of caution about the need to streamline businesses, it sends an ominous warning to the existing quo.

AI also has a bigger role to play in preventing major incidents that can become easy with bad actors preying on the growing popularity of AI across corners.

Recently, deepfake AI videos of celebrities like Rashmika Mandanna and Taylor Swift have caused concerns, forcing law enforcement and governments to reprimand the tech companies and make them accountable for the tools that have caused havoc. Nadella has referred to AI deepfake as alarming and terrible but his company needs to walk their talk and look to fix the loopholes that create these incidents in the first place.

New technologies tend to create panic and he feels that once the fears of AI taking over jobs diminish, people will see its actual value and help them grow as professionals like never before. Well, Microsoft has a lot to gain from the AI revolution with its OpenAI partnership going strong with Altman and Co. and a company valued at well over trillion dollars certainly deserves the credit to project a future where AI can empower people.
